Dr. Aung is a geriatric and family physician and a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioner and teacher. At the University of Alberta, he is an associate clinical professor in the faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and an adjunct professor in the faculties of Extension and Rehabilitation Medicine. He is a World Health Organization advisor on TCM. Dr. Aung was awarded a professional Excellency from the Académie Diplomatique de la Paix in 1986; the Alberta Order of Excellence in 2002; the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2003; the Physician of the Century Award in 2005, and the Order of Canada in 2006. His work is to continually promote the integration of TCM and Western biomedicine in the spirit of creating a natural and compassionate approach to health care.
